By audiences, press and experts alike he is regarded as one of the best guitarists of the new generation. In the course of his career he has been awarded many top prizes in International competitions

While touring Russia in 1997 he was invited to perform in the prestigous Main Auditorium of "Tchaikowsky Conservatory in Moscow" as well as in the Philharmonia of St. Petersburg, an honour very rarely bestowed upon a guitarist. Both concerts were sell-outs and received standing ovations. In October 1998 he gave his debut in the "Berliner Philharmonie".

He started taking guitar lessons from the age of 10 with by Master L. Cauzzo, later on he attended lessons of L. Galuzzi. In 1976 he applied for being enrolled at the local "Conservatorio Santa Cecilia" in his native town. He successfully passed the entrance exam (1st place out of 100 applicants). He entered the class of Master Mario Gangi, and in addition to his school classes he was also attended other additional courses and seminars. Carlo Marchione finished his studies in 1983 with honours. Thanks to his big interest in old music he has participated in courses by Masters Betho Davezac and Toyohiko Satoh (Renaissance and baroque music).

Carlo Marchione teaches at the Conservatory Maastricht in Holland.
